Mario
Pescante, Member of the IOC Executive Board: Congratulations!
"Wellcome to our Olympic family!". These are the words from the
exclusive statement of Mario Pescante, member of the IOC Executive
Board, given for our paper. "All bureaucratic constraints have been
overcomed. We already see the Montenegrin Olymic Committe as a
member of the IOC. Congratulations! You deserve it. Executive Board
was unanimous. Without any discussion, we determined what everybody
in the Board already knew – that you fulfill all conditions, and
that it should be only recommended to the General Assembly your
Olympic Committee for the full-time member of the IOC".
Our interlocutor, whom we reached during the break of the Session of
the IOC Executive Board in Lausanne, added that personally, he is a
good friend of Montenegro.
Pescante, lawyer by vocation, and MP of the Italian Parliament, has
rich University career. He was Head of the Italian Olympic Team
mission on eight Olympic Games - in Montreal, Moscow, Los Angeles,
Seul, Insbruck, Lake Placid, Sarajevo and Calgary. Besides that, he
was also the President and the Secretary General of the Italian and
European Olympic Committees, and the President and member of various
Commissions of the IOC.
