07.07.2011.
II Regular
(ceremonial) Assembly of Montenegrin Olympic Committee
Montenegrin Olympic Committee celebrates its
day today, in memory of 7. July 2007 when in Guatemala City became
full time member of the International Olympic Committee.
President
of Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović said that
acceptance into IOC represents recognitions to all efforts athletes
made for years in order to affirm the picture that wider
international public had about Montenegro.
"Acceptance is recognition of efforts made in referendum process and
its fairness and transparency. Montenegrin Olympic Committee
prepared that moment patiently for years and awaited independence
referendum completely ready for such an important international
exam. This acceptance opened the road for numerous and wonderful
moments we got from Montenegrin athletes", said Simonović
He reminded that since the acceptance, Montenegrin flag flaunted at
the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in Beijing and Vancouver,
Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Youth Olympic Games in Singapore,
Games of the Small States of Europe in Lichtenstein, numerous
regional, Balkan, European and international championships and
tournaments.
President of Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović said at
the ceremonial session of MOC Assembly today that he hopes with
support of the Government and some local communities they will
create International Youth Olympic Center which will serve for
preparations of young and perspective athletes.
"We don’t have any doubts it will represent big step towards new
recognitions and medals, successes and further affirmation of our
country, its culture, role in the region, contribution to global
process of understanding and peace efforts, which is in particular,
mission of the Olympic movement as biggest global idea", said
Simonović.
He
hopes that Montenegro will get House of sport, but also museum and
library dedicated to Montenegrin sport and its protagonists
throughout history.
In gratitude for their assistance, Montenegrin Olympic Committee
delivered recognitions to the Government of Montenegro, Embassies of
China and Italy, Faculty for Sport and Physical Education in Nikšić,
National tourist organization, Investment-Development Fond.
Recognitions were also delivered to the general sponsor of
Montenegrin Olympic Committee - Telenor, official partner of MOC –
company Feel Motors-Toyota, Port Bar, Montenegro Airlines, technical
sponsor Radio television of Montenegro.
Assembly of Montenegrin Olympic Committee adopted today financial
report for 2010. as well as financial pan for 2011.
In 2011, MOC will allocate most of the money to international
activities and assistance to sport associations, for functioning of
MOC and for agreed obligations. Some of the amount is provided for
the work of MOC bodies and authorities.
President Dušan Simonović thinks that the budget of Montenegrin
Olympic Committee is low, but MOC is obliged to satisfy with the
amount. "It would be better if we had more, MOC showed it deserves
more, but it is fine the way it is now", said Simonović.
President of the Shooting Association of Montenegro, Dragan
Samardžić thinks that Montenegrin Olympic Committee must be highest
sport institution. He stressed that MOC must directly influence on
allocation of financial means from the games of chance, in order to
direct those means to key sport organizations.
For the new member of the Executive Board of Montenegrin Olympic
Committee was elected Vladimir Kavarić from Basketball Association
of Montenegro, instead of Igor Lukšić who was elected Prime Minister
in the meantime.
Conclusion of MOC Assembly is that National Olympic Committee must
be positioned as roof sport association.
Activity report of MOC was also adopted for the period between two
Assemblies, which was published and delivered to delegates.
The Assembly supported skier Bojan Kosić, and also congratulated
Montenegrin athletes for achieved successes.
It was stressed that after adoption of the Law on Sport will start
changes and amendments of MOC Statutes and in that sense were
proposed guidelines according to which the Executive Board will
operate during the draft of new MOC Statutes.
By minute of silence, the Assembly commemorated basketball player
Ljubomir Jovanović who tragically lost his life few days ago.
In the work of the Assembly participated 48 out of 61 delegates.
