Srđan Mrvaljević elected best athlete of Montenegro in 2011
In accordance with the new Law on Sport, for the first time this year, Montenegrin Olypic Committee announced the best athlete of Montenegro in 2011.
Having in mind importance of this recognition, the Executive Board of MOC, formed jury that brought the decision on this prestigious title.
Members of the jury were representatives of MOC, Montenegrin top athletes and media representatives. Considering proposals from sport federations, jury brought unanimous decision to elect Montenegrin judoka Srđan Mrvaljević, vice-champion of the World, for the best athlete of Montenegro in 2011.
Beside silver medal on the World Championship, Srđan Mrvaljević had great results on competitions for the World Cup, where he won in his category in Budapest (Hungary) and at the World Cup in Porto la Cruz (Venezuela) where he also won.
In 2011, he won important amount of points and he managed to provide participation at the forthcoming Olympic Games in London 2012.
In competition for the best athlete of Montenegro in 2011 was also handball player, Bojana Popović.
Traditionally, MOC will announce best national teams in men and women categories, as well as best young athletes for this year, and recognitions will be awarded to:
Best young female athlete of Montenegro in 2011: Danka Kovinić (tennis).
Best young male athlete of Montenegro in 2011: Danijel Furtula (athletics).
Best women national team in 2011: Basketball national team (seniors).
Best men national team in 2011: Football national team (seniors)
Ceremony organized by Montenegrin Olympic Committee where will be announced best Montenegrin athletes in 2011, will be held on 29th December 2011 at 15:00 in Villa Gorica in Podgorica. |
