General Assembly of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games

President of Montenegrin Olympic Committee Dušan Simonović will participate in the work of the General Assembly of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games to be held in Mersin on 14 and 15 October.

At the beginning of this year Mersin (Turkey) was chosen for the host of Mediterranean Games 2013 instead of Greek Volos, who lost their right to organize the Games due to disregard of deadlines and obligations. Since host of the forthcoming Games is planning to use already existing sport facilities, delegates of the Assembly will have an opportunity to visit the venues where in 2013 will compete athletes from 24 countries. At the same time at the meeting with the Organizational Committee of Mediterranean Games they will be introduced with the flow of preparations and technical conditions for organization of such important sport event.

Central event at the session of the General Assembly on 15 October will be election of host city for Mediterranean Games 2017, followed by ceremony of signing the Agreement between host city and the International Committee of Mediterranean Games. Main candidates are Alexandria (Egypt) and Tarragona (Spain).
